Melanie’s Life

Forever Telling Your Story

OCTOBER 29, 1991 – MAY 18, 2024

With a radiant spirit and an indelible presence, Melanie Taylor Sitzer graced this world for 32 beautiful years before departing suddenly and unexpectedly. She was the beloved youngest of Tisha and Michael Sitzer’s five children—a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Those who knew Melanie will carry her memory in their hearts forever, missing her laughter, kindness, and unwavering light every day.

Raised on Lido Isle in Newport Beach, California, Melanie’s brilliance shone early. She attended St. Andrews Pre-School, Newport Elementary, and Corona del Mar Middle and High School, excelling in academics with an exceptional aptitude for science, mathematics, history, and public speaking. Her remarkable intellect and consistently stellar test scores earned her the affectionate nickname “99.”

But Melanie was more than just an academic powerhouse—she was a force of nature. A fierce competitor on the softball field, she played an unstoppable third base, and as the fastest player on any team, she was always the go-to pinch runner. She had an innate love for the ocean, spending summers as a Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard, sailing in the Lido Isle Junior Sailing Program, or cruising to Catalina with her family aboard their beloved sailboat, Sitzhavn.

Melanie’s journey led her to the University of San Diego, where she flourished as a dedicated member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and the Women’s Center. Her adventures took her across Europe and to Washington, D.C., where she studied and interned during her junior year. Graduating with high honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, she embarked on a successful career in finance, earning her certifications as a licensed financial advisor. Yet, Melanie’s passions extended beyond numbers—she was deeply drawn to the world of health and wellness, studying acupuncture, breathwork, and leading her own breathwork groups.

Melanie’s heart belonged to her beloved cocker spaniel, Lady, her constant companion on beach outings, hikes, and quiet moments of serenity. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—hiking at sunrise and sunset, flowing through yoga sessions, saging her space, praying over her organic berries, dancing in the kitchen, and grounding herself in nature’s embrace. Ever creative and eclectic, she embraced new hobbies with curiosity and excitement, from working with ceramics, playing piano and rollerblading to dreaming up entrepreneurial ventures.

Above all, Melanie was a luminous soul—bright, brilliant, and endlessly kind. Her quick wit and contagious laughter could light up any room. She was a devoted sister, a loving aunt, and a steadfast friend. With an open heart and a deep sense of compassion, she cared profoundly for others, feeling their joys and struggles as if they were her own. She believed in forgiveness, acceptance, and the power of human connection.

Melanie walked this earth with intention and grace, an angel among us. Her strength, beauty, and boundless heart will be deeply missed.
